One key example is its phosphate-free surface treatment technology, which offers significant value in terms of environmental protection and energy savings. It reduces energy consumption, wastewater, and sludge discharge, simplifies wastewater treatment, and conserves materials. Customers using this technology have reported a comprehensive cost reduction of up to 70%.
In Production:
KERUN’s manufacturing facilities are equipped with industrial IoT systems for intelligent process control, alongside newly installed photovoltaic systems to embrace clean energy. These upgrades are expected to reduce emissions by 19,262 tons of CO₂, 580 tons of SO₂, and 290 tons of nitrogen oxides.
In Other Areas:
KERUN has obtained ISO 14067 carbon footprint certification and has provided green transformation solutions to over 3,000 manufacturing enterprises, driving low-carbon upgrades across the entire industrial value chain.
Cost Reduction & Efficiency: Zirconium Silane Technology as a Performance Engine
KERUN’s zirconium and silane coating technologies are not only green pioneers but also true “performance specialists” in delivering tangible value. Backed by over 20 national invention patents and certified as new products and technologies by Jiangsu Province, these solutions have been widely adopted on major automotive production lines.
Greater Energy Savings:
Compared to traditional phosphating processes, KERUN’s technology operates at room temperature, eliminating the need for heating and significantly reducing consumption of natural gas and other energy sources. It also cuts water usage by over 10%. For an automotive plant producing 100,000 passenger vehicles annually, this translates to over ¥1 million in yearly savings compared to conventional phosphating.
Higher Efficiency:
Leveraging advanced corrosion inhibition and interface bonding technologies, this solution enhances corrosion resistance and coating adhesion across all metal body types. It also improves the penetration and efficiency of cathodic electrodeposition in inner cavities. Free of hazardous substances like phosphorus and nickel, the process reduces wastewater volume and treatment complexity, as well as eliminates dangerous solid waste such as phosphating sludge—boosting green manufacturing performance while contributing to water resource conservation.
Innovation Pioneer: A Decade of Dedication to Break Monopoly and Set New Standards
The “Raw Material Innovation Pioneer” individual award was granted to Dr. Dali Wei, Deputy General Manager of KERUN’s product division. He serves as a member of the Corrosion Subcommittee under the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Metal and Non-metallic Coatings, and is also a founding youth editorial board member of Modern Coatings & Finishing.
Dr. Wei has deeply cultivated the field of surface treatment in coatings, with a research focus on nano conversion coatings for functional surfaces and the interfacial mechanisms between coatings and metals.
Prolific in Research:
Dr. Wei has published eight SCI-indexed papers in international journals, filed 26 national invention patents, and led the drafting of a group standard on zirconium-based surface treatment technology.

His innovations have been successfully implemented at major automotive production sites including Chery, SAIC Maxus, and Nanjing Jinlong, marking a significant shift for domestic passenger car pre-treatment—from technology followers to independent innovators—breaking long-standing reliance on imported technologies.
